They say it is the soul of commerce. I think advertisement is merely a tactic and of dubious legitimacy in the best case.

I am tolerant therefore I consider giving a chance to advertisement superfluous to be blunt. I understand many people may think this is too extreme, even bizarre, yet I do not see a single case where advertisement itself adds value to the total balance in any commercial transaction.

Sure It may foster sales and revenue, but in the process it wastes more resources than the value it adds. At least it wastes the time and attention of the ones receiving the advertisement which is more worthy than the value it adds to them, even in the unrealistic case of a 100% effective advertisement.

Not to mention the cost of the advertisement itself which is ultimately paid by those that eventually purchased the advertised good.

I opt for no ad on my pages. If you see advertisement on my pages then you are welcome to report and I will follow up to make sure who abused will pay for your and my time getting the advertisement and going after them.

I have mixed feelings myself about this referral mechanism. Sure enough everyone can enjoy the free service of gmail, yahoo, hotmail, 163 or any other main supplier. Web hosting also easily comes with email plans. All are good free options but most of them come at a cost: advertisement and profiling. I travel, sometimes more sometimes less. I also move often my residence to be close to wherever my activity is. That implies that I am often looking for hospitality solutions for the short and medium-long term. Hotels work fine and there are plenty of websites and portals offering choices.
I use many of them and normally I look for the one with the best offer at the moment. Never loyal to any specific one. They are not loyal to me, anyway.I love travelling in contact with the large community of Couchsurfing, but that is about the people, not the travel needs.
